Probably my favorite community is For The Love of Blogs. I would say I've gotten most of my exposure through link-ups and groups on this site. I am in love. Recently, they introduced a "best in category'. You nominated yourself in one of the categories that you are a part of, and they would then pick one for each category each month as a staff.
Or so I thought.
A couple of days ago they did a post mentioning that the "voting was ready" I then realized, that no, they do not pick out the blogs. Everyone else does. And voting isn't private. Oh no, everyone can see just how many votes you have.
I could relate this experience to that time that I was going to be Prom Queen in highschool and the someone drew a mustache on my upper lip in my campaign poster. Or I could relate it to that time that I was in gym class and picked last.
Unfortunately for this story, we didn't "run" for prom royalty at my high school and I was in no way ever under any illusion or thoughts of making it up to the stage at all. I was more concerned about which basketball t-shirt was the most clean to wear with my jeans and ponytail the next day at school, and whether my friends had omigodseenthenewestepisodeoftheOC. Also, I was never picked last for teams in gym class, just in the middle. Averagish in highschool as the name of this game.
I digress.
I'm in no way looking to "win" best in random, as there are other blogs that were also selected to compete in this category who have many more follwers than mine and are already almost up to 200 "likes" already. I am also a huge fan of a couple of these blogs and I would be lying to you if I told you I didn't already cast a vote for the other blogs I love "against myself" sometimes in the same category as my own.
It also feels weird to me to ask for votes on something. But, all of the fine ladies that show up on this list and are also on my google reader have already done one, so it only appears appropriate that I do one as well.
Here is my proposition for you, my fine readers.
I pick a goal. Like 10 or 15 or 30 or 50. Whatever.
Those of you who think this blog is, um, random and slightly above average can cast a vote.
Now, the blogs that are CLEARLY and actually in the running to win are already up to around 200 votes. I am not anticipating that many. I would enjoy just a enough so the sting of online polling and public humiliation goes down juuust a little.
All you have to do to raise my self-esteem is follow this link to the voting screen, scroll to #47 and hit the like button underneath "My Fabulous Pursuit of Happiness".
And when I've only lost in my category by 450 votes to the winner instead of 499 (thanks to my one vote so far!) I won't feel so bellow average. Thanks ahead of time from saving me from social mortification.
Oh and the category that they placed me in? RANDOM.
Which, I do believe is an appropriate grouping for my blog, as my topics can sometimes be all over the place niche wise with the biggest common reoccurring factor in my postings being some photo of Bruin doing an activity or pose that a human should be doing instead.
Which in itself, is just a little random don't you think?

Oh my gosh! I just tried like, three times to comment and it kept taking me to the sign in screen. I'm already signed in! Argh! Anyway, just wanted to let you know it allows you to vote daily so you should let your voters know as well. I voted for you today.
