My Favorite Mountains Have Water Sources At The Top

Every weekend needs an adventure.

The hubby and I haven't gone camping together yet all summer, so when his parents asked us to watch his little brother and we both realized we had some time off, we knew what we should do.

He got Brother B, they swept me off from work and and we all went to one of our favorite state parks.

Obligatory Driver Pic.

Straight Thuggin in the back of course.
We got there in the late afternoon so we set up camp and prepared for dinner.

Bandannas are a priority when it comes to camping.

Dave went to go pick up some things. We played with settings on my camera and climbed trees.

Because that's the most responsible thing to be doing, not start dinner or anything like that.

Dave chopped wood for the fire.

And luckily, we found one of the horcruxes.
Take that HP
We spent the hot night sitting next to the fire (but not too close) because the tents were just way too hot. We had each other and idle gossip to keep us company.

Bruin got to sleep with his Uncle B as a treat. This is how I found him in the morning.

Official Momma and Daddy's Boy
Bruin guarded our campsite from all of those pesky bike riders all morning. He did a great job. Especially when he tried to get off his lead to lick them.
 Dave made breakfast.

 Some begging happened.
Shortly after breakfast we went off to hike my most favorite mountain ever. Now, those of you who have dogs who hike may recognize the contraption on his back.
This is his backpack. He carries up his stuff. Not only does it help with energy levels but when he has this on, he knows he has a job to do.
We hiked to the trail head.

Brothers.
Bruin smiled for a picture. Or he was hot. Let's go with smiling.

Okay, so the last time I hiked this mountain in the spring, this mitten was on this rock.
Two months later, it is still there. This is The Mitten.

We discussed whether I should use the nasty bathroom at the trailhead or just pee in the woods.
The woods won.

 And then we hiked.

And how does a man who means bussiness when he hikes walk with a dog who means bussiness when he hikes? With the leash attached at the belt OF COURSE!

We stopped for water lots of times. Sometimes Bruin needed a little encouragement to actually drink because he was just so eager to keep going.

Ben loves to pose for pictures.

When I say love I mean tolerate.

Dave on the other hand, just ignores it.

Now, I took this self-portrait to properly display the amount of sweat that was happening.

Unfortunately, what I did not realize at this point, was because Dave we forgot the sunscreen I am not just red because of my profuse sweating. This is the start of what I would later know as a miserable sunburn.

After a few water breaks we continued hiking.

Here comes the part where I tell you why Mt. Tumbledown is so awesome.

There's a pond at the top.

Note: All pictures on top of the mountain will be Extra Large because the scenery is just too cool not to.

It was originally carved out by moving glaciers, and now has a fresh spring source.

A.K.A. It is the freshest water you have ever swam in ever.

Or it just feels that way because you're usually super sweaty when you get to it.

Either way, it's the best.

Take note in the photo below of the adorable little island in the middle of the pond.
After we ate our lunch we OBVIOUSLY swam. Bruin was at first hesitant to swim out to the pond and turned around. But once his Uncle B and I went out there and called him a few billion times, his whiny and anxious little but and Dave's came swimming out to chill.

Different groups of hikers took turns on the island. These bros thought that they would be cool and do handstands on rocks. Because I mean, who wouldn't.

Dave's bro decided to show them up in physical activity level and do push-ups.

This picture of myself, taken by my loving husband, is documentation of the portion of our trip when I changed out of my bathing suit and finally realized I had a sunburn.
Please take note of the super amount of privacy I found to change. (That was said with sarcasm friends.)

But, I got over it real fast, because I found these shortly after.

Blueberries!
These are fresh Maine Wild Blueberries friends!
So, as many of my readers know, I am a teacher.  I like taking pictures of Bruin doing different things in different places to use on my school website. Because I'm that teacher.

Brother #3 wanted to pose for a few.
Lax Bro Pose

Pensive pose.
Bruin took a cue from his uncle and went with pensive for his first one.

What'd you say?

 Dave wanted his picture taken.

I promise he's handsome.

Cross my heart hope to die he's handsome.

Bruin posed a for a few more.

Three hours later, we decided it was time to pack up and head back down the mountain.
But not before I took a few more pictures.
So I don't know this guy in the corner, but he gives the picture some great perspective. And yes, those are rocks you can see in the water. I told you FRESHEST WATER EVER!

If you turn your body away from the pond, this your other view.

I mean, I guess it's not too shabby no mater where you looked.

Needless to say, after hiking, swimming, and sunbathing without sunscreen we were relieved to be on the way home.

Even the dog with endless energy was tired.

And with that, we rode off into the sunset and home to apply aloe-vera.. :)

I love camping! I live in Colorado and the scenery here is just amazing-the heat on the other hand has made it down right miserable.
